In this case, the surrounding opposite contact area of the connecting element, e.g. tubular cable lug, is offset downwards in a pot shape. This pot bottom then lies against the contact area. The higher level, which is designed like a balcony, allows a circumferential, mainly radially insertable seal. The main advantage is that no additional components have to be used which could increase contact resistance or be lost during installation.
